The work of palliative care nurses has been honoured at a ceremony in the Café Royal London.

The international Journal of Palliative Nursing Awards 2008, sponsored by Macmillan Cancer Support, presented awards for teamwork, development, symptom management and achievement.

Kathryn McCall, Macmillan CNS from Lochaber, won the Palliative Care Nurse of the Year award. Additionally, Bob Becker, senior Macmillan lecturer in palliative care at Staffordshire University, was named Educationalist of the Year.

High-achieving nursing teams were also honoured during the ceremony, which took place on 7 March.
