Patient safety is about ‘capturing hearts and minds’, according to chief nursing officer for England Chris Beasley.
Ms Beasley said this would encourage nurses to take on initiatives. Referring to the Department of Health’s healthcare-associated infection programme, she said: ‘We thought people were getting on with it but they were not, we did not have their hearts and minds. If you make sure you have this, it is possible.’
