The sad thing about this advert (and I am assuming it is an advert for nursing) is that clearly the creators of this image were lazy and could'nt be bothered. They knew nothing about nursing. Speaking as a male heterosexual nurse I have seen countless nurses A line skirted over the knee uniforms on my fellow female professionals and they are about as sexy as false teeth.
Neither is nursing the remotely bit glamourous. If only!from the practical point of view perhaps we should all have rubber uniforms they would be much easier to wipe clean than the current ones.
Speaking on behalf of nurses (and I am one) we should not get so upset by this especially if we have not read the article in context. we should also not just moan unconstructively which is a fault of our profession.
Doctors may be critical of nurses taking on other roles because their training is longer, more competitive, more difficult and basically involves giving up your 20's to medicine. You can see why they may be critical of nurses who may be seen as taking an easier route in and why they may be suspicious of our competence. What both professions need to do is look at the facts objectively to see how we can improve on care. Personally I'm sick to death of hearing about this class/doctor nurse divide. Maybe we should all sleep together and that would majke it better
