This patient presented with an eruption of petechia, caused by thrombocytopenia.
Thrombocytopenia is defined as a platelet count below the lower limit of 150,000. This patient was found to have a platelet count of 6,000. In this case, it was caused by a myelodysplastic syndrome which converted to acute myeloid leukemia.
