I agree in that I loathe the term “male nurse.” I’m a nurse and proudly so. My degree is a bachelor of nursing, not a bachelor of male nursing.
Although I raise a smile at being “Sister.” It’s quaint and I don’t fuss over it.
I have several colleagues retiring in the next 12 months. ALL of them have said that whereas they would have renewed their registration and continued to work part-time or bank, they won't go through revalidation. So will revalidation cost us nurses? Yes, without doubt.
We need a paradigm shift is how unscheduled care is provided. The current system is too complex for patients, too variable across and areas and trusts and is open to abuse. Having Primary Care alongside A&E makes sense and would be a step in the right direction.

I recommend Leatherman's Raptor emergency tool which is always on my utility belt in work. It includes a ring cutter, among other things.
