Nursing Times’ first careers event will offer a wealth of opportunities for those looking for a new role in nursing

The Nursing Times Careers Live event has been specially created to help nurses find their next professional move in nursing.

Recruiting managers from a range of organisations across the public and private sector, including Bupa, Draycott Nursing and Care, London North West Healthcare Trust, South Staffordshire and Shropshire Healthcare Trust, HCA Hospitals, Healthcare at Home University Hospitals of Leicester and Four Seasons Health Care, will be exhibiting so you can discuss the opportunities available in these organisations.

In addition to being able to meet a host of employers, you will be able to attend stimulating 30-minute sessions throughout the day. These will focus on a wide range of topics that have been designed to support you as you continue your nursing career and make decisions about your next steps.

There are revalidation sessions for those needing an introduction to the process of competency checks being introduced by the Nursing and Midwifery Council in April 2016 - these will cover the basic need-to-know aspects of the processes, while an advanced revalidation session will look at how to prepare nurses in more detail.

Nursing Times editor Jenni Middleton will be interviewing senior nursing figures about their careers and asking them the questions you need to know to help you advance within your own organisations and the profession as a whole.

There will also be practical sessions giving you tips and insight on how to succeed in your nursing interview and make a great first impression. It will highlight what a potential employer is looking for and how to present your work experience and skills. There is also a presentation on how to be more effective at work - working smarter, not harder. This will consider a range of strategies you can adopt to make sure you meet the challenges facing the nurse today with the limited resources available to you. Time management, team management and communication skills will all be looked at.

In addition, there is a CV clinic running all day, so you just need to drop in for a one-to-one consultation to help you improve your CV - and your jobhunting chances.

You can find out more about how a subscription to Nursing Times can support you by giving you access to our suite of Nursing Times learning units, which will help you meet all your continuing professional development requirements for revalidation. The product also features a “passport” to help you store all your reflective practice, feedback and CPD to meet the NMC’s requirements - the Nursing Times team will be on hand all day to give you a demonstration.

Lunch will be provided free of charge between 12.30 and 13.30, and there is an opportunity to win a lunchtime meeting with Nursing Times editor Jenni Middleton - 10 seats are up for grabs. If you visit 10 or more exhibitors and collect stamps, you can win a holiday and all attendees will be entered into a prize draw to win £250 of high street shopping vouchers.

Register online today for a chance to boost your career, meet potential employers, win fabulous prizes and find out more from a host of experts.
