Pinch skin grafts effective for leg ulcers

  • Comment

A study in the Journal of Wound Care has found that pinch skin grafts are an effective treatment for chronic leg ulcers.

The study was a retrospective analysis of healing rates of 104 patients with 169 ulcers treated with pinch grafting during 1997-2007 at a dermatology department in Finland.

The study showed that 50% of ulcers healed among patients treated as outpatients and 62.9% among those who were inpatients.

The authors found that patients who complied with compression therapy benefited most from this treatment.
