Pioneering initiative to introduce ‘MOTs’ for nurses

  • Comment
Nurses were offered a health ‘MOT’ last week, as part of a pioneering initiative at Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust.

Donna Eldridge, the trust’s associate director of nursing, came up with the idea and hopes to make testing a regular occurrence. ‘Our staff spend so much time caring for others, it is important they take the time to take care of themselves,’ she said.

Occupational health nurse adviser Jackie Nichols is seen taking a lung function test. Also pictured is Emma Palmer, joint occupational health service manager.

The government has plans to trial similar checks (NT News, 29 January, p2).
