RCN calls for views on government social care plans

The RCN has launched an online consultation asking members for their views on the future of the social care system in England.

Members’ views will contribute to the RCN’s response to the government’s social care green paper “Shaping the Future of Care Together”, which was published in July, and included plans for a National Care Service.

RCN chief executive Peter Carter said: “Social care has rightly become a high priority for all political parties. The government’s consultation offers a historic opportunity to establish a fairer system of care where people understand what care they are entitled to and how to access it.

“Changes to the social care system will impact significantly on nurses, both in their professional capacity as well as in their personal lives. We urge members to use this opportunity to make their voice heard to ensure patients receive the fairest deal,” he added.

The deadline for responses to the college’s consultation is 31 October.
