The Royal College of Nursing is encouraging the profession to join the debate on the next government’s health polices via a special 2010 general election campaign website.
The interactive website allows nurses to read about the RCN’s election priorities, share ideas with colleagues and “tweet” their support using the social networking system Twitter. Nurses can also upload photographs and blogs about the election.
“I encourage all nurses to get involved, be active and join us online to help shape the future health landscape,” said RCN chief executive and general secretary Peter Carter.
As part of its election manifesto to politicians, the RCN is calling for parties to: stand up for staff who speak out, provide safer staffing levels, give nurses the time to train, protect the nation’s health, improve care for those with long term conditions and sustain healthcare investment.
