RCN fellow becomes ICN president

RCN fellow Derek Benton has been made chief executive of the International Council of Nurses.
Mr Benton will being the post in October and will work alongside ICN president Hiroko Minami to help run the organisation.

Peter Carter, RCN general secretary, congratulated Mr Benton on the appointment.

He said: ‘David is an extremely capable man with an outstanding reputation for developing highly innovative and creative nursing services. With a firm grasp of both the workings of the ICN and UK nursing, I am sure he will be a great success. I wish him good luck in his new role.’
