The Royal College of Nursing has written to its Cumbria branch in the wake of the shootings in Whitehaven, which left 13 people dead and 25 injured.

In an email, Royal College of Nursing chief executive and general secretary Peter Carter said: “I would just like to take this opportunity to thank all members of the nursing family who have acted with such professionalism and commitment as [the] tragedy unfolded, and also to those who are continuing to deal with its terrible consequences.”
