Family presence at resuscitation attempts

Its amazing that even in the face of actual evidence proving benefits how many people still hold onto the traditional beliefs that family should not witness any sort of invasive procedure or resuscitation attempt. In a resus situation its usually the family member who was performing this prior to the medical staff/ambulance arriving?! Family members or carers would have been present up until the medical staff arrived so why should they then be told from that point on they are not allowed to be present?
