Nurse staffing agencies claim government is 'vilifying' them

'Forget cuts etc, the answer is right in front of you!1 Take care of your staff and they will work for you!! Simple!!!!' it is so simple why can't they see it? ... and there are many who have worked in far better services where staff are well respected and generously rewarded in more than just their pay but they won't learn from the experience and advice of others - the doors are closed to returning British and British trained nurses with experience to the NHS - what are they afraid of? after a highly successful 20-year nursing career in general medicine in a large European university hospital where nurses have far more scope and work far more autonomously than they could ever dream of in the UK and other experience prior to that in the UK and elsewhere, I was offered posts for the newly qualified in the NHS - but after I was informed police checks could take up to six months and realising an employer would not wait for me, I withdrew may application, and especially when the CNO turned round and said, of course you do not have any experience! I couldn't help feeling she was a little short-sighted and especially after I was head-hunted by two senior consultants and department heads who asked for my help as a clinical manager - however, HR thought otherwise and selected the staff themselves leaving the consultants with little say of who they wanted and believed would be the best fit their jobs and fit in well with their teams.
