Do you think they call it an 'uplift' because they can't, in all honesty, call it a pay rise as it doesn't keep up with inflation? Phrases like 'I am glad to confirm' and 'at least 1%' are an insult to our intelligence, putting a positive slant on it does not deceive any of us, and of course you aren't going to have compulsory redundancies - not because you value us but because you can't fill vacant posts as it is.
