'I want to have a baby while I’m still training to be a nurse'

Congratulations on finishing your first year and balancing your role as a mom and a nursing student. As a seasoned nursing professor and program administrator, I can say with experience, success in a nursing program (or failure) can sometimes be based on timing. With that being said, are you actually enrolled in a program now or taking pre-requisites? I would never advise a student to, unfortunately, have a baby while in a nursing program. It’s too stressful and to much is at stake. Having a baby is a life changing event as is going to nursing school. Instead, make a long term goal and make a plan with a date to achieve this goal of becoming a practicing nurse. It’s okay to be a mom first and once your babies are in school for you to go back to school! Best of luck to you!!
