Community services social enterprise set to launch in Plymouth

  • Comment

Plymouth Community Healthcare Community Interest Company will be launched on 1 October to provide NHS community and mental health services for the people of Plymouth.

Staff who previously provided healthcare within NHS Plymouth are transferring across to Plymouth Community Healthcare, which will be run as a social enterprise.

Steve Waite, chief executive (designate) for Plymouth Community Healthcare, said: “I appreciate that this has been a period of great change for staff within the organisation. I would like to pay tribute to the involvement that we have had from staff over the last 12 months and for their continued support in delivering care of a high quality during this period of change.

“In the future we believe that this organisational structure we will be able to be much more responsive to local needs, working alongside partner agencies, including primary care, social care, education, Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust and the independent and voluntary sector organisations to ensure that people receive services to a consistently high standard.”
