New ligaments let the kettle flex

  • Comment

When I was a district nurse a while ago, I was visiting a lady who wasn’t terribly popular with other staff.

As the “new girl” in the job, this patient was allocated to me regularly and I became quite fond of her.

I was visiting her one snowy weekend, when she informed me that she had “had new “ligaments” put into her kettle so she could offer me a cup of tea. I believe she meant filaments. Years of practice at keeping a straight face stood me in good stead that day.
