Computer games help relieve depressive symptoms

Therapeutic play using virtual reality computer games leads to a decrease in depressive symptoms, in children with cancer, research carried out in Hong Kong has shown.

However, the study, published in the Journal of Clinical Nursing, also found that play therapy made no difference to children’s anxiety levels.

The research involved 122 children aged eight to 16 admitted to a paediatric oncology ward. It concluded that children needed to play even when they are ill.

This is groundbreaking research! Can't believe no one's ever thought of this before...

Mind have a slight DVT issue with too many of these computer games though
