Nursing and Midwifery Council chair Tony Hazell is to receive an honorary degree from the University of Wolverhampton today.

Professor Hazell, who has chaired the NMC since January 2009, will join more than 660 students at their awards ceremony, where he will be made an honorary doctor of science by the university’s school of health and wellbeing.

NMC chief executive and registrar Dickon Weir-Hughes said: “Professor Hazell has made a considerable contribution to public protection through his work at the NMC over the last two years.

“I am delighted by the University of Wolverhampton’s decision to recognise his hard work with this award.”

Professor Hazell added: “I am very much looking forward to joining students from the University of Wolverhampton as they celebrate their achievements this week.

“Graduation ceremonies are always joyful occasions and I am honoured to have the opportunity to help recognise their academic success and to receive this generous award.”
