  • Comment

A number of nursing directors have been appointed to Local Area Teams in the north by the NHS Commissioning Board.

The teams are being set up across the country and will be responsible for overseeing NHS commissioning at a regional level.

They will take over this responsibility from strategic health authorities, which are due to be abolished in April.

Margaret Kitching has been appointed as director of nursing and quality for the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Local Area Team.

Moira Angel, previously NHS Cumbria’s associate director of nursing, will be director of nursing and quality in the Local Area Team for Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear

Durham, Darlington & Tees Local Area Team’s director of nursing and quality will be Beverley Reilly.

Meanwhile, Trish Bennett has been appointed as nursing and quality director for Greater Manchester’s Local Area Team.

Health Education England will oversee education and training nationally.
