Nursing academic Professor David Sines has received a CBE from the Queen at Windsor Castle.

Professor Sines, pro vice chancellor and executive dean at Bucks New University, said he was “immensely proud” after receiving his CBE for services to healthcare.

He was recognised for developing innovation in workforce planning to support the modernised health service.

Professor Sines started his nursing career in Surrey before becoming director of nursing and general manager at Winchester Health Authority. He moved into higher education in 1991.
