  • Been working for the same hospital for over 25 years. I left for about three years and I went back. Now I am 57 years old. I have an Associates Degree in Nursing and have been an RN for 31 years. I have attempted many times to complete my BSN and have lots of extra credits but due to money issues and personal issues have not completed. Every time I try to finish it seems the colleges add extra stuff that is going to cost more time and money. I feel this college thing after years of experience is kind of silly. They require you to write long papers about what you think. How does that mean more than the years of experience? I really think a college education is a great foundation but working and experience is where the true education comes. At my hospital now they will not give us over the age of 50 with greater than 20 years of experience a raise unless we spend money on education. I do not understand! What happened to the days when older employees were celebrated because of their experience.
