A private sector nurse from the Midlands is preparing to celebrate four decades in the nursing profession.
Linda Ford, currently the outpatients nursing manager at the BMI Priory Hospital in Birmingham, qualified as a nurse at the age of 22, when she was known as Linda Hampson.
Starting work at the Birmingham Children’s Hospital, she moved to the Nuffield Hospital now known as BMI Edgbaston in 1979 before joining BMI Priory four years ago.
She is planning to meet up with five other nurses who qualified at the same time for a special celebration.
“I have kept in touch with a few of the girls I qualified with and I’m really looking forward to seeing them again,” she said.
“I’ve seen lots of changes since my first days on the ward, not least in the training that young nurses now receive.”
She added: “I have a lot of happy memories and I have enjoyed every minute. It can be very hard work but I can’t think of any job that could be more rewarding.”
