South West London and St George’s Mental Health Trust has appointed Andrew Dean as its new executive director of nursing and quality standards.
Mr Dean’s appointment follows a period as the trust’s interim director of nursing.
He has previously worked in mental health services across both the public and private sectors, as well as running a health management consultancy.
The trust said his clinical specialism was older people’s mental health, but noted that his nursing leadership experience had also encompassed a wide range of other mental health disciplines since he began his career as a nursing assistant.
Speaking on his appointment, Mr Dean said: “The pursuit of excellence in the quality of the services we provide must be our number one priority, central to this is our continued focus on the development of our nursing team so that they can continue to improve the quality and safety of the care we provide.
He added: “I am excited about the challenges ahead and the opportunity to help the trust achieve its full potential, with a high quality, professional nursing team at its heart.”
Trust chief executive David Bradley said: “We are thrilled to have someone with Andrew’s passion and ability on board.
“He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the trust.”
