The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency has issued a warning about a brand of wheelchair that it says could leave patients at greater risk of injury if used as a seat in a vehicle.
The MHRA alert concerns XLT wheelchairs.
Those with a backrest height of less than 40cm could make patients more vulnerable in a crash.
Instructions on the wheelchairs made between January 2008 and June 2010 had an unclear warning label, the agency said. Manufacturer Invacare is to distribute new labels.
