North Bristol Trust

North Bristol appoints nurse as interim chief executive

North Bristol Trust director of nursing Marie-Noelle Orzel is to take over as interim chief executive on 2 July.

She will replace cuurent chief executive Ruth Brunt who will retire at the end of June after 40 years of service with the NHS.

Ms Brunt was originally due to retire in April but agreed to stay on after her original replacement Ian Cumming decided not to take up the post.

Last month it was announced a group had been set up to explore whether the trust should merge with University Hospitals Bristol Foundation Trust.

Trust chair Peter Rilett said: “In order to give the trust’s board time to consider the recommendations of the recently announced Bristol Acute Hospital Services Review, we have decided to make an interim chief executive appointment.

“I am delighted that Marie-Noelle has accepted the role of interim chief executive and she has the unanimous support of the board. Importantly, Marie-Noelle will provide us with leadership continuity during this busy and exciting period of change for the trust.”

Director of finance Steve Webster will continue as deputy chief executive, and will focus on the delivery of our foundation trust application for December 2012.

Good selection - a front line troop at the top of my local Trust to keep the notion of patient safety and experience at the fore (which it is already) but no time to let it slip with Ruth off to pastures new!
