Today Jenni Middleton chatted with us live about her latest editor’s columns

Jenni chatted about:

‘Don’t let horror stories put you off speaking out’

“The NMC has been making moves to offer more support to witnesses. Staff are now available to look after witnesses on the day of the hearing, and more formal venues are also available to hear cases, which witnesses say they prefer.”

The media’s ‘too clever to care’ tag makes no sense’

“My phone rang virtually off the hook last Wednesday with researchers for national media wanting to know our take on the Care Quality Commission’s report into hospitals’ care of older people.”

Jenni, I was particularly disturbed by the story recounted by the second poster: basically, the malicious use of social media, to 'trash the person who raised the concern'.

Lansley is today announcing more snap inspections to try and root out some existing bad institutions, but longer-term it does need a culture change.

I can't join the chat, but how can that malicious use of social media, be countered ?
