The Royal College of Nursing has re-elected its president and deputy president for further terms of office.

The RCN announced today that its president, Andrea Spyropoulos, and deputy president, Cecilia Anim, had been re-elected for a further two years.

Nominations for the roles opened on 2 May and closed on 2 July. Ms Spyropoulos and Ms Anim were the only nominees in their respective categories.

They will commence their second terms at the RCN AGM on 17 October and will serve until 31 December, 2014.

Ms Spyropoulos said: “I’m thrilled to be re-elected as president, and grateful for the fantastic support of the membership. I am looking forward to the next two years and to continuing to meet as many members as possible.”

Ms Anim added: “It is a real privilege to be able to continue representing such dedicated nursing staff, who make a difference to patients every single day.”
