  • I would strike right now! But not just for pensions, for a whole range of issues that plague our profession. Dangerous staffing levels and the need for a Nurse/patient ratio, better pay, better working conditions, and the instant ceasing of all threats to our increments and pensions, etc etc etc. All of these issues need addressing, and we need to strike and take the government head on! It is about time we showed just how powerful a profession we can be!

  • I would support working to my contracted hours that would give me an extra five hours a week that I do unpaid overtime for at the moment. If all nurses worked to their hours because the unions said they should and was legal the Trusts may then appreciate the extra mile we run on a daily basis, or am I living in dreamland!

well said both, though not sure if i would strike i definately work to rule, currently i go in an hour early to finish of paper/computer work and often stay longer, as if we don't document and outcome correctly we don't get paid....payment by results and all that.

  • yes, but our unions are too weak to even consider it. We need to get a union that is willing to back the nurses and other HCP's.

  • I don't think I could bear to go on strike and allow Mr Lansley et al in to run my department as Gove did on the teacher's strike. I couldn't impose that on my patients!!!!
