Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has announced it will recruit 30 registered nurses to work with elderly patients in hospitals and the community.

A statement said: “As part of an overall £700,000 investment in nursing care, elderly patients are set to benefit from the cash boost which will see nursing numbers increase as part of the trust’s commitment to deliver world class healthcare and a world class patient experience.

“Over 30 healthcare assistants are also being recruited to work in the trust’s community hospitals and on elderly care wards at North Tyneside General Hospital.”

The stated added: “The investment means every single elderly care ward across the trust’s hospitals will now have extra nursing staff on duty every single day to help during busy meal times and to deliver more one to one, personalised nursing care.”
