Recording resident violence in care homes is 'crucial'

  • Comment

Consistent recording and reporting procedures for violence from care home residents with dementia is crucial, according to Irish researchers.

They said: “Fear of being blamed, job insecurity and resignation that abuse should be accepted as part of the job is unique to this care setting.”

But they warn that this leads to emotional exhaustion and depersonalisation.

They said: “Consistent recording and reporting procedures, dementia specific training and infrastructures to support staff is therefore crucial.”
