Salicylic acid and cryotherapy simillar for verruca treatment

There is no difference in outcomes between salicylic acid treatment for verrucas and cryotherapy, a study published in the BMJ has found.

Cryotherapy with liquid nitrogen was administered by healthcare professionals to 110 patients, and the results were compared with a group of 119 who self-treated with salicylic acid.

Researchers discovered no evidence of a difference in outcome, with 14 per cent of cases clear in 12 weeks for both groups.

The results did not change when adjusted for patient preference, patient age, type of wart, and whether it had been treated previously.
