  • Comment

More than two-thirds of GP practices now have their own commissioning budget, according to government figures.

The Department of Health’s first quarterly GP practice survey of 2009 shows that 69% have their own indicative budget.

Just under two thirds (64%) have agreed a commissioning plan and 64% support practice-based commissioning.

There are more practices commissioning services compared with the last survey in 2008, with 51% commissioning services in 2009, up from 47% last year. Findings were based on responses from 1,898 GP practices.
