Debbie Starbuck has been appointed sister at a renal unit that opens at Doncaster Royal Infirmary this month.

For the last few years, she has specialised in peritoneal dialysis and haemodialysis in patients' home environments, with responsibility for patients living in the Doncaster area.

Ms Starbuck said: 'Helping to set up a brand new service is an exciting development in my career. I will be working with many of the same patients that I saw when in Sheffield but looking after patients in the Doncaster area. Renal medicine is a growing specialty and we will see many more patients both in hospital and at home in the future.'

Most of the unit's 11 staff nurses are now in post and some healthcare assistants have also been appointed.
