Smoking increases psoriasis risk

Smoking increases the risk of psoriasis, a study conducted on nurses has found.

TheUSresearch was conducted on 79,000 nurses in theUnited Statesfound current smokers were 78% more likely to have the condition than non-smokers.

Former smokers were 37% more likely to have the condition, according to the research from data gathered from the Nurses Health Study II.

Report authors said: ‘smoking cessation may be an important target for prevention and management of psoriasis.’
