Prison staff donate Christmas gifts to children's ward

  • Comment

Staff from HMP Doncaster visited a children’s hospital with sacks full of presents to cheer up the youngsters.

The gifts had been generously donated by the Prison and its staff, and ranged from Barbie dolls and books to chocolates, toys and an X Factor karaoke machine!

John Biggin, Director of HMP Doncaster, said: “It’s great to be able to do something charitable for a worthwhile cause at Christmas, and our Community Action Team nominated the local Children’s Hospital this year.”

He added: “We hope that the presents will brighten up the festive period for poorly children spending time on the hospital wards.”

Play leaders Jill Edwards and Icky Lall, who work on the children’s ward, said they were very thankful for the wonderful gifts.
