Synthetic hormone recommended for child growth disorders

A synthetic form of human growth hormone has been recommended by NICE for treating two growth disorders in children.

The updated guidance recommends somatropin as a treatment option in short stature homeobox-containing gene deficiency, and for children who were smaller than expected at birth, and whose growth has not become normal by the age of four or later.
