Video offers guidance on syncope in children

  • Comment

A DVD guide for treating children who suffer from fainting (syncope) has been produced by charity STARS.

The guide, aimed at school nurses, teachers, and support staff, will help them support children who have been diagnosed with syncope, by reassuring them, and managing the episode successfully.

According to STARS, there are many different causes of syncope, some common and some rare. Most cases of syncope are due to the common faint, which is caused by a short-term reduction in blood pressure to your brain. Diagnosing the underlying causes of syncope can be challenging and should always start with a thorough examination of a patient’s medical history.

For more information on the condition, visit the STARS website.
