NICE recommends clopidogrel in patients at high risk of heart attack or stroke

  • Comment

NICE has provisionally recommended the wider use of clopidogrel in people who have previously had a stroke, or who have been diagnosed with peripheral arterial disease - putting them at high risk of stroke or heart attack.

The recommendation is included in draft guidelines designed to update 2005 guidance on the use of clopidogrel and modified-release dipyridamole for the prevention of occlusive vascular events.

A draft is out for consultation until 25 August.
