Staff receive £100 for top performance rating

Staff at a London hospital trust have received a one-off £100 bonus as a reward for the organisation's 'Excellent' rating by the Healthcare Commission.

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust announced last week that staff will receive the cash by the end of November.

The trust was one of only 19 NHS trusts in England and only one of three in the capital that scored 'Excellent' in both quality of services and use of resources in the commission's Annual Health Check ratings.

Chief executive Heather Lawrence said: 'The trust board recognises this achievement was made possible by the efforts of all staff and so has decided to say thank you by making a one-off payment of £100.

'Bonuses of this kind are commonplace in the private sector and the board felt that on this occasion it was an appropriate way to thank staff for 'going the extra mile' to improve the quality of care that they provide for patients.'
