‘Do you have any advice for someone’s first nursing role?’

Can you advise this soon-to-be newly qualified nurse?

“I’m qualifying in a few months and have a job lined up (how I got through the interview I don’t know!). Does anyone have any advice for your first few months as a qualified nurse? I’ve been told that it’s normal to not feel prepared but I feel COMPLETELY unprepared so any advice anyone has to get ready for being a staff nurse would be massively appreciated!

“Anything you wish you’d been told?

“Thanks!”

  • I feel it is indicative that only one person replied and she needs advice as well. Do our more experienced staff not view NT sections? Remember why you become a Nurse, value what you have achieved (look at student drop out rates!))Major transition for you-look after yourself on duty ,make sure you get breaks to hydrate and and rest your feet .Document everything, cover your back at all times but ask and indeed demand support.
