‘What does a research nurse do?’

  • Comment

Can you advise this student nurse?

“I’m interested in finding out about nursing roles and how they fit in with patient care. Recently I’ve heard research nurses being mentioned more and more but other than “research” I’m not sure what a research nurse actually does.

“I’m hoping to find a role after I qualify where I can make wide improvements to patient care. I’m probably being over-ambitious but I’m hoping my first nursing role will involve working in several different areas and having some sort of over-view of care.

“Is that realistic? And is that what I can expect from a research nursing role?”
