  • Comment
A fifth of all rugby injuries are to the head, according to a study of college players conducted in the US.

The study, conducted on 121 high school rugby clubs, showed that 21.7% of rugby injuries were to the head, 13.3% were to the ankle and 12.8% were to the shoulder.

Fractures (16%), concussions (15.8%), and ligament sprains (15.7%) were the most common diagnoses.

Figures gathered over the 2005 and 2006 rugby season showed there were 15.2 injuries per 1000 match exposures.
