Talks in offing for on-call pay deal

  • Comment
Negotiations are set to begin on a national on-call pay deal.

A meeting of the NHS staff council, scheduled for March, will agree terms for a review of on-call payments – still mostly based on local agreements. It follows the deal on unsocial hours, agreed last week.

Mike Jackson, Unison’s senior national officer, said: ‘Trying to develop a single national scheme, when there is such a diversity of local arrangements, will be a significant task.’

Josie Irwin, RCN head of employment relations, said collecting data on current local agreements would take at least six months, maybe a year.
