A hard-hitting video showing a schoolgirl giving birth on a school playing field has been viewed by more than one million people in just one week.
In total, 1,432,859 people have watched the viral film since it aired on video-sharing websites YouTube and Kontraband on 14 May.
Created by Leicester City Teenage Pregnancy and Parenthood Partnership – part of NHS Leicester City - ‘Teenage Kicks’ is part of a wider campaign to reduce the high rate of teenage pregnancy in the area.
According to the PCT, around one in 20 girls aged 15 to 17 become pregnant in Leicester every year, and nearly half the city’s wards are teenage pregnancy ‘hot spots’.
NHS Leicester City also launched hey-babe.co.uk at the same time as the film, a website which offers information and advice on relationships, sex and pregnancy to young people.
A docu-drama involving actors discussing issues related to sex, relationships and parenthood will air on the website in June.
