Tool kit helps nurses understand primary care changes

  • Comment

Nurses in London have created a tool-kit to help explain changes in primary care.

The London Network for Nurses and Midwives decided to produce the kit after a series of discussion groups around government documents, including Creating a Patient Led NHS, revealed confusion surrounding the development of primary care.

Commissioning and the different ways services can be bought by PCTs are all explained by the kit which goes on to highlight the importance of commissioning in relation to long term conditions.

Practical advice to community based nurses wanting to get involved in commissioning is also offered.

The toolkit can be downloaded from www.rcn.org.uk
