Training dummy has heart attack

  • Comment
The most lifelike training manikin yet has been introduced at two UK universities to help educate future clinicians.

iStan, originally developed for the US military and based on the cast of a real person, has been introduced at the University of Glamorgan and the University of Portsmouth.

The remote-controlled wireless, portable manikin, designed from the inside out, has a skeletal structure that gives realistic motion. The spine, neck, arms and hips move and the skin looks and feels as lifelike as possible.

iStan can also talk, sweat, bleed, vomit and simulate a myocardial infarction.
