  • Comment

A former nurse has been appointed chairperson of South West Yorkshire Mental Health NHS Trust.

Joyce Catterick, who has previously worked in general nursing, paediatric nursing and midwifery, will now be responsible for leading the trust’s board and ensuring resources are used effectively.

Steven Michael, chief executive of South West Yorkshire Mental Health NHS Trust, said: ‘Joyce joins the trust at a particularly exciting and challenging time as we progress towards becoming a Foundation Trust. Joyce has a strong track record of empowering local people to influence the development of health services.

‘Joyce is also deeply committed to driving the development of mental health and learning disability services and will be a real asset to the trust board.’

Ms Catterick, who has an MA in Ethics, will be giving up her five-year position as chairperson of Calderdale Primary Care NHS Trust to start her new appointment in February.
