‘Virgin’ centres to offer more jobs

  • Comment
Practice nurses could be working in ‘Virgin’ healthcare centres by the end of the summer.

Richard Branson’s conglomerate plans to open a handful of primary care ‘health malls’ across England.

The first centre is due to open somewhere along the M4 corridor this summer, with a further five centres planned to open by the end of 2009.

The proposed centres will house nurses and doctors offering standard NHS services, as well as a range of additional private services such as dentistry, physiotherapy and complementary therapies.

GPs will be offered a share of profits made from the additional services. It is currently unclear whether nurses will be offered similar benefits.
